RIP silicon chips - IBM

IBM might pull the trigger to silicon chips by trying to create the first computer chip using carbon nanotubes.

Silicon is expected to reached miniaturization roadblock in the next decade. Thus researchers are trying to find alternative process to manufacture computer chips. Carbon nanotubes are said to be a great choice for in will be faster, more power efficient and will scale easier that silicon chips. However this can not be easily achieved due to difficulties in working with carbon nanotubes.
